Hybridization and polyploidization are major driving forces in plant evolution. Allopolyploids can be occasionally formed from a cross between distantly related species but often suffer from chromosome instability and infertility. xBrassicoraphanus i

Intergeneric crosses between Brassica species and Raphanus sativus have produced crops with prominent shoot and root systems of Brassica and R. sativus, respectively. It is necessary to discriminate donor genomes when studying cytogenetic stability i

Clubroot resistance is an economically important trait in Brassicaceae crops. Although many quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for clubroot resistance have been identified in Brassica, disease-related damage continues to occur owing to differences in hos

Hybridization and polyploidization are pivotal to plant evolution. Genetic crosses between distantly related species are rare in nature due to reproductive barriers but how such hurdles can be overcome is largely unknown. Here we report the hybrid ge

Although research has been conducted on intergeneric hybridization between Brassica and Raphanus, much of it remains unpublished. We have acquired numerous Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis (kimchi cabbage) and R. sativus var. major (“big root radish

The nidomi cultivar (introduction number 166) of Brassica rapa ssp. rapifera (turnip) was crossed, after emasculation, with Raphanus sativus var. rafinistrum lr. (landrace) gaetmoo (radish no. 45) to breed a fine-root variety. One seed was harvested.

To expand the availability of intergeneric allopolyploids between Brassica rapa and Raphanus sativus beyond BB#1, a stable xBrassicoraphanus koranhort (baemoochae) cultivar (2n = 38, aAARR genome), we developed four intergeneric hybrids between diffe
