A novel fluorescent probe bearing triphenylamine, thiophene and thiosemicarbazide (TPA-TSC) was developed, and its distinct features were investigated. TPA-TSC demonstrated excellent selectivity towards Hg2+ ions, with a limit of detection (0.14 nM)
