A fiber curvature sensor based on a Mach–Zehnder Interferometer (MZI) constructed using the waist-enlarged technique to splice a segment of non-zero dispersion-shifted fiber (NZ-DSF) between two segments of single mode fiber (SMF) is proposed and e

In this paper, we propose a highly sensitive temperature sensor based on two cascaded Mach–Zehnder interferometers (MZIs) that work using the Vernier effect. The all-fiber MZIs were assembled by splicing a segment of capillary hollow-core fiber (CH

A fiber optic strain sensor, based on the Vernier effect, was constructed using two parallel MZIs. The strain sensitivity of one MZI was 0.84 pm/µε, using this configuration the sensitivity increased up to 13.00 pm/µε.

The enhancement of the temperature sensitivity of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer coated with polymer based on core-offset technique was experimentally demonstrated. The measured amplification of sensitivity was found to be approximately three times.

In this work, we present a wavelength-tunable erbium-doped fiber ring laser based on a Mach- Zehnder interferometer composed of a small piece of capillary hollow-core fiber (CHCF), and two small sections of multimode fibers (MMF).

In this work the feasibility of employing two well-known techniques already used on designing optical fiber sensors is explored. The first technique employed involves monomode tapered fibers, which were fabricated using a taper machine designed, buil

The modal characteristics of tapered single mode optical fibers and its strain sensing characteristics by using mechanically induced long period fiber gratings are presented in this work. Both Long Period Fiber Gratings (LPFG) and fiber tapers are fi
