In this study, the effects of mechanical stresses on the shedding of ash deposits in a coal-fired boiler were evaluated. We have confirmed that the shedding occurred because of the fracture within the initial deposit layer, which was formed by powder

The main obstacles to the widespread use of lignocellulosic biomass include its high moisture content and low grindability. Thus, we herein report a novel method, viz., the self-steam explosion (SE) method, which utilizes the moisture content of biom

A demonstration test on the co-firing of a high-ratio of woody biomass (25% energy basis) with coal in a 150-MW class pulverized-coal boiler was conducted in Japan for the first time. To investigate the effect of the co-firing on the corrosion of the

Ash deposition on the furnace walls and on the tubes reduces the heat transfer efficiency. Hence, it seriously inhibits the stable boiler operation. The ash deposition needs to be removed to restore the heat transfer efficiency to the initial level.
