Abstract Enzymatic dissociation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) into single cells during routine passage leads to massive cell death. Although the Rho-associated protein kinase inhibitor, Y-27632 can enhance hPSC survival and proliferation at

Abstract Photoreceptors (PRs), as the most abundant and light-sensing cells of the neuroretina, are responsible for converting light into electrical signals that can be interpreted by the brain. PR degeneration, including morphological and functional

Pluripotent stem cells (PSCs), including embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), can be applicable for regenerative medicine. They strangely rely on glycolysis metabolism akin to aerobic glycolysis in cancer cells. Upon diffe

Human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) are vulnerable to cell death upon dissociation. Thus, dissociation is an obstacle in culturing, maintaining, and differentiating of hESCs. To date, apoptosis has become the focus of research into the nature of cell

Introduction: Alzheimer disease (AD) is the most common age-related neurodegenerative disease characterized by extracellular amyloid-β (Aβ) plaques and intracellular neurofibrillary tangles containing hyper-phosphorylated tau. As an important molec

The inflammatory response is an immune response of the body when exposed to internal and external stimuli. Cyclooxygenases (COX) are major inflammatory mediators implicated in inflammation. COX-2 is reported to be involved in neuroinflammation. Moreo

Introduction: Increased oxidative stress is widely accepted to be a factor in the development and progression of Alzheimer’s disease. Triazine derivatives possess a wide range of pharmacological activities including anti-oxidative and anti-in.ammat

Oxidative stress is a major component of harmful cascades activated in neurodegenerative disorders. Here, we tried to elucidate the possible neuroprotective effect of Salvigenin, a natural polyphenolic compound, on oxidative stress-induced apoptosis

Here, we tried to elucidate the possible role of autophagy against H2O2 and Amyloid beta (Aβ) induced neurotoxicity using retinoic acid differentiated SH-SY5Y cells. We found that H2O2 disrupted neurite outgrowth concomitant with production of Aβ.
