FGF9 is a potent mitogen and survival factor, but FGF9 protein levels are generally low and restricted to a few adult organs. Aberrant expression of FGF9 usually results in cancer. However, the mechanism of FGF9 action has not been fully established.

Fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) play a critical role in diverse physiological processes and the pathogenesis of diseases. Integrins are involved in FGF signaling, since integrin antagonists suppress FGF signaling. This is called integrin-FGF crossta

Epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) plays a critical role in cancer metastasis, and is regulated by growth factors such as transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) and fibroblast growth factors (FGF) secreted from the stromal and tumor cells. Ho

Fibroblast growth factor-1 (FGF1) and FGF2 play a critical role in angiogenesis, a formation of new blood vessels from existing blood vessels. Integrins are critically involved in FGF signaling through crosstalk. We previously reported that FGF1 dire

Crosstalk between integrins and FGF receptors has been implicated in FGF signaling, but the specifics of the crosstalk are unclear. We recently discovered that 1) FGF1 directly binds to integrin alphavbeta3, 2) the integrin-binding site and FGF recep

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers and the seventh leading cause of cancer-associated death in the world. Radiation is performed as an adjuvant therapy as well as anti-cancer drugs. Because cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) are consi

We presented the synthesis of isoindolone spirosuccinimides via the Rh(i)-catalysed reaction of aromatic amides that contain a (2-methylthio)aniline directing group with maleimides. Several possible reaction paths were examined by DFT calculations.
