ABSTRACT Many biotrophic and hemibiotrophic fungal pathogens use appressoria to directly penetrate the host plant surface. In the cucumber anthracnose fungus Colletotrichum orbiculare, differentiation of appressoria requires a proper G1/S cell cycle

Plant infection by pathogenic fungi involves the differentiation of appressoria, specialized infection structures, initiated by fungal sensing and responding to plant surface signals. How plant fungal pathogens control infection-related morphogenesis

International audience; Several plant pathogenic fungi including Colletotrichum species form specialized cells called appressoria to directly penetrate the intact cuticles of their host plants. These appressoria-forming fungi can infect a wide range

Global food security is endangered by fungal phytopathogens causing devastating crop production losses. Many of these pathogens use specialized appressoria cells to puncture plant cuticles. Here, we unveil a pair of alcohol oxidase–peroxidase enzym

The hemibiotrophic fungus Colletotrichum orbiculare forms appressoria as infection structures and primarily establishes biotrophic infection in cucumber epidermal cells. Subsequently, it develops necrotrophic infection. In the pre-invasion stage, mor
