Active shielding is an effective technique to reduce background signals in hard X-ray detectors and to enable observing darker sources with high sensitivity in space. Usually the main detector is covered with some shield detectors made of scintillato

The Suzaku data of the highly variable magnetar 1E 1547.0$-$5408, obtained during the 2009 January activity, were reanalyzed. The 2.07 s pulsation of the 15--40 keV emission detected with the HXD was found to be phase modulated, with a period of $36.

The dipping low-mass X-ray binary 4U 1915-05 was observed by Suzaku on 2007 November 8 for a net exposure of 39 ksec. It was detected by the XIS with a 0.8-10 keV signal rate of 9.84+\-0.01 cts/s per camera, and HXD-PIN with a 12-45 keV signal rate o

Magnetars are a special type of neutron stars, considered to have extreme dipole magnetic fields reaching ~1e+11 T. The magnetar 4U 0142+61, one of prototypes of this class, was studied in broadband X-rays (0.5-70 keV) with the Suzaku observatory. In

The symbiotic X-ray binary 4U 1954+319 is a rare system hosting a peculiar neutron star (NS) and an M-type optical companion. Its ~5.4h NS spin period is the longest among all known accretion-powered pulsars and exhibited large (~7%) fluctuations ove

We report on the firm detection of a cyclotron resonance scattering feature (CRSF) in the X-ray spectrum of the Be X-ray binary pulsar, GRO J1008-57, achieved by the Suzaku Hard X-ray Detector during a giant outburst which was detected by the MAXI Ga

The dipping X-ray source 4U 1822$-$37 was observed by Suzaku on 2006 Octrober 20 for a net exposure of 37 ks. The source was detected with the XIS at a 1-10 keV flux of 5.5$\times10^{-10}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$, and with the HXD (HXD-PIN) at a 10-50
