Advances in Solid State Lasers Development and Applications
The ability to image matter on the microscopic scale is of fundamental importance to many areas of research and development including pharmacology, materials science and nanotechnology. Owing to its generality, x-ray scattering is one of the most pow

Nonreciprocal light propagation is important in many applications, ranging from optical telecommunications to integrated photonics. A simple way to achieve optical nonreciprocity is to use the nonlinear interaction between counterpropagating light in

We demonstrate optical nonreciprocity based on Kerr interaction of counterpropagating light in whispering gallery microresonators. This effect is used to realize compact optical isolators and circulators with >20 dB isolation.

The Nonlinear interaction between counterpropagating light has attracted significant attention in the context of unidirectional lasing in ring resonators and in nonlinear loop mirrors. In this work we demonstrate that Kerr-nonlinearity-mediated inter

Miniaturisation of optical circuits will play an important role in the realisation of future telecommunication networks. One challenge for the evolution of optical circuits is the difficulty in realising optical isolators overcoming the size limits o

We have theoretically studied and optimized the field enhancement and temporal response of single and coupled bimetal Ag/Au core–shell nanoparticles (NPs) with a diameter of 160 nm and compared the results to pure Ag and Au NPs. Very high-field enh

Light is generally expected to travel through isotropic media independent of its direction. This makes it challenging to develop non-reciprocal optical elements like optical diodes or circulators, which currently rely on magneto-optical effects and b

The structure of saturated solutions of sodium in ammonia at 200 K has been measured by using the method of isotope substitution in neutron diffraction. Substitution of ∗ N by 15 N, combined with difference analysis, yields detailed structural info

We present a simple phase-matching model that takes into account the full spatiotemporal nature of capillary high-harmonic generation. Spectra predicted from the model are compared to experimental results for a number of gases and are shown to reprod
