The Hormuz and the Gachin salt domes are located in the south of Bandar Abbas, the Hormozgan Province, in Zagros Structure Zone. The domes are dominated by andesite, trachy-andesite, basalt, dacite, and rhyolite belonging to Permian to Triassic age.
