We have established marker-aided selection strategies for the two major Rf genes (Rf3 and Rf4) governing fertility restoration of␣cytoplasmic-genetic male sterility (CMS) in rice. Polymorphisms between restorer and non-restorer␣lines were observe

Three thermosensitive genetic male sterility (TGMS) genes – tms2, tgms and tms5 – were pyramided using linked microsatellite markers. Three TGMS donors, Norin PL 12 (tms2), SA2 (tgms) and DQ200047-21 (tms5) were utilized in generating crosses fro

Antibiosis-based resistance to two insect pests of rice, Nilaparvata lugens (Stål) (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) and Marasmia patnalis Bradley (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), was compared in 11 F1 hybrids and their parental lines. Our objective was to determin

Response of thermosensitive genic male sterility in rice to varying temperature situations was studied by using four TGMS lines. In three sets of maximum, minimum and their combined temperatures, it was observed that maximum temperature played a pred
