Open clusters are key coeval structures that help us understand star formation, stellar evolution and trace the physical properties of our Galaxy. In the past years, the isolation of open clusters from the field has been heavily alleviated by the acc

2MASS J20395358+4222505 is an obscured early B supergiant near the massive OB star association Cygnus OB2. Despite its bright infrared magnitude (Ks = 5.82) it has remained largely ignored because of its dim optical magnitude (B = 16.63, V = 13.68).

We obtained K-band spectroscopy of the brightest members of the cluster VVV CL074 in order to identify the massive star population. We also determined the stellar properties of the cluster's massive stars to better quantify the evolutionary sequences

We present deep near-infrared photometry and spectroscopy of the globular cluster 2MASS-GC03 projected in the Galactic disk using MMIRS on the Clay telescope (Las Campanas Observatory) and VISTA Variables in the Via Lactea survey (VVV) data. Most pro

We present an atlas of 173 synthetic spectra of stars, with mass from 9 to 120 M⊙, covering the region of the OB main sequence stars in the H–R diagram. The spectra were calculated with the stellar atmosphere code CMFGEN, assuming solar metallici

This project is a massive near-infrared (NIR) search for variable stars in highly reddened and obscured open cluster (OC) fields projected on regions of the Galactic bulge and disk. The search is performed using photometric NIR data in the $J$-, $H$-

The ESO public survey VISTA Variables in the V\'ia L\'actea (VVV) has contributed with deep multi-epoch photometry of the Galactic bulge and the adjacent part of the disk over 526 square degrees. More than a hundred cluster candidates have been repor

The Dragonfish Nebula has been recently claimed to be powered by a superluminous but elusive OB association. Instead, systematic searches in near-infrared photometric surveys have found many other cluster candidates on this sky region. Among these, t

Aims. We report on a study of the global properties of some embedded clusters that are found in the fourth quadrant of the Milky Way. We aim to clarify some issues that relate to their location in the Galaxy and their stellar formation processes. Met

Context. Recent near-infrared data have contributed to unveiling massive and obscured stellar populations in both new and previously known clusters in our Galaxy. These discoveries have lead us to view the Milky Way as an active star-forming machine.
