We report here the fabrication of fiber chromatic dispersion compensators, along with the tests of those components in wavelength-division-multiplexed transmission at 10 Gb/s and an analysis of their performance by simulation.

We present the latest results about all-optical wavelength conversion obtained within the European Union—funded RACE ATMOS project. In particular, solutions based on carrier depletion in Distributed Brag Reflector lasers have reached penalty-free p

A wavelength-tunable, single-frequency GaInAsP-InP laser diode using an intracavity electrooptic LiNbO/sub 3/ crystal as the wavelength selective component is discussed. Wavelength tuning is achieved by applying a driving voltage on the crystal elect

Thirty-two 10-Gb/s channels spaced by 100 GHz are transmitted over 500 km of dispersive fiber (D>+19 ps/nm/spl middot/km) with 125-km amplifier spacing. This is made possible by the use of 3 in-line dual-stage flat-gain erbium-doped fiber amplifiers

Summary form only given. In conclusion, we demonstrated the capability of the integrated laser Mach Zehnder (ILMZ) modulator to be used in 2.5-Gbit/s systems with a negative power penalty at a distance of 1086 km. The intrinsic characteristics of the

We present here a new method allowing the fabrication of long gratings with any kind of chirp at any wavelength in a range of about 30 nm for chromatic dispersion compensation. We propose a new method, simple, cheap and versatile, allowing the realiz

The system performance and limitations of 50-GHz spaced N/spl times/2.5 Gb/s transmissions has been experimentally studied in a 5/spl times/100 km long link over both G.652 and non-zero dispersion shifted (NZ-DSF) fibres. With G.652 fibre, per-channe

More and more, the capacity of telecommunication networks will have to be increased so as to meet the future needs of the customers in terms of bandwidth. ATM has been identified as a standard switching technique for the future broadband network. For
