A newly developed rock drill was used to take the first fully oriented samples from in-situ gabbros exposed on Atlantis Bank, which formed 11 m.y. ago on the Southwest Indian Ridge (SWIR). These paleomagnetic data locate the seabed outcrop of a norma

Palaeomagnetic, structural and geochronological analysis of a suite of Oligocene mafic dykes intruded into the Malaguide allochthon in the Internal Zone of the Betic Cordillera demonstrate that at least 134° clockwise vertical-axis rotation of a lar

Vertical-axis rotations indicated by palaeomagnetic study are a common and important component of deformation in fold and thrust belts. The kinematics of rotating thrust sheets may be best described as a combination of a far-field rotation (or transl

An integrated structural and palaeomagnetic study in Late Cretaceous—Eocene rocks of the western Subbetic arc in the Betic Cordillera of southern Spain shows that the change in fold trend around the arc is significantly greater than the variation i

The combination of multi-beam echo-sounder swath bathymetry and high-resolution deep-towed sidescan sonar provides a powerful database from which to examine mid-ocean ridge processes. We have used such a database, gathered from the Mid-Atlantic Ridge

A well-exposed 2 km section through the Eastern Subbetic, immediately to the south of the Crevillente wrench fault zone can be divided into an upper thrust sheet of Triassic rocks, a middle thrust sheet of Cenomanian-Turonian basinal sediments, and a

Palaeomagnetic declinations from the External Zones of the eastern Betic Cordillera (southern Spain) and an adjacent area of the Internal Zone indicate variable and locally very large clockwise rotations. The rotations occurred after latest Oligocene

A paleomagnetic study was carried out on 23 sites sampled in Paleocene, Eocene and Lower Miocene sedimentary formations of the Western Taurides belt east of the Isparta reentrant. The paleomagnetic data, based on twelve suitable sites, record a coher
