When the Imperial War Museum was founded in early 1917, the subcommittee in charge of collections related to “Women's Work” solicited contributions from Dr. Flora Murray of the Military Hospital at Endell Street in London. Murray and Dr. Louisa G

We present new, high-resolution (70-mas) radio images of the colliding wind system WR 147 observed with Multi-element Radio-linked Interferometer Network (MERLIN), which show significant differences in the structures of both the thermally emitting WN

ABSTRA C T Skinner et al. presented two high-resolution 6-cm (5 GHz) images of the B-supergiant star P Cygni. These show the observed morphology and flux densities to have changed over the intervening month. Following on from this, we present a serie

We have detected radio emission from the remnant of V705 Cas, beginning 221 d after visual maximum. We follow the remnant from first detection while still optically thick through the turn-over to optically thin emission, and finally confirming the ab

We present MERLIN observations of the symbiotic nova V1016 Cygni made at 6 cm between 1992 and 1997 and at 18 cm in 1993 and 1997. In the 6-cm images we find complex structure which has not been previously seen, in particular three bright components.

HM Sge is a symbiotic binary star that underwent a nova-like outburst in 1975. Its radio emission has been monitored using MERLIN and the VLA, and maps from 1992 to 1997 are presented. Thermal emission within 0.4 arcsec of the optical peak is elongat

Chicken infectious anemia virus (CIAV) is a unique infectious agent with an amino acid composition that has been found to be remarkably conserved even in isolates from different parts of the world. We have characterized field isolates of CIAV which v
