The angular distribution of ions striking a planar target surface which has an obliquely inclined magnetic field at the surface is considered. The results have potentially important ramification for divertor surface sputtering and impurity transport

It is proposed that the technique of laser‐induced fluorescence (LIF) be used to measure local ion velocity distributions in tokamak divertors. Recent theoretical work has indicated the existence of highly populated excited states of many partially

We report the observation of two unusually bright, visible lines from Be I--like oxygen, an impurity intrinsic to tokamak plasmas. Collisional-radiative (CR) models using detailed atomic structure are used to predict line brightnesses in agreement wi

Fast wave current drive (FWCD) experiments at 60 MHz are being performed on the DIII‐D tokamak for the first time in high electron temperature, high β target plasmas. A four‐element phased‐array antenna is used to launch a directional wave spe

Recent results from the DIII-D tokamak have provided significant contributions to the understanding of many of the elements of tokamak physics and the application of this understanding to the design of next generation devices including ITER and CIT.
