Summary Reasons for performing study: It has long been recognised that the production of abnormal respiratory sounds by horses during exercise is frequently associated with upper airway obstructions. Respiratory acoustic measurements have shown promi

The temperature dependences of bulk positron annihilation parameters for pure and Fe doped YBa2Cu3O7- delta are considered in the context of temperature dependent positron trapping. Data for samples of composition YBa2(Cu1-xFex)3O7- delta with x=0.0,

Remarkably rapid Brownian motion of helium bubbles in aluminum alloyed with very low concentrations of lead or of indium has been observed in situ by hot-stage transmission electron microscopy. Bubble diffusion is enhanced as the impurity, which appe

Positron lifetime (PLS) and TEM studies have been completed on a series of pure, carbon-doped (∼90 at p.p.m.) and oxygen contaminated (340–670 at p.p.m.) vacuum melt-spun (VacMS) aluminium samples. Both TEM and PLS data have shown pure and carbon

Positron lifetime results in semi-insulating and p-type materials after various heat treatments are presented. In as-grown and subsequently annealed (at 950 degrees C) materials a long-lived component of approximately 300 ps of substantial intensity

Positron lifetime spectroscopy was used to study the isochronal annealing of cold worked Ni3Al samples. In pure Ni76Al24, Ni74Al26, and boron-doped Ni74Al26 three annealing stages were observed. Boron-doped Ni76Al24 showed only two annealing stages.
