Fenofibrate is a member of the fibrate class of hypolipidemic agents used clinically to treat hypertriglyceridemia and mixed hyperlipidemia. The fibrates were developed primarily on the basis of their cholesterol and triglyceride lowering in rodents.

The high expression of MCH in the hypothalamus with the lean hypophagic phenotype coupled with increased resting metabolic rate and resistance to high fat diet-induced obesity of MCH KO mice has spurred considerable efforts to develop small molecule

We have developed a general solid-phase synthesis for identification of PPAR ligands. Synthesis of a 480-member library led to the identification of a potent PPAR gamma/delta dual agonist 23. Compound 23 showed good plasma exposure in rats and demons

Recent studies have suggested that certain organic cations, such as pindolol and the diastereomers, quinine and quinidine, may be stereoselectively secreted by the kidney in humans. The goal of this study was to determine if the enantiomers of pindol

The therapeutic efficacy of nucleosides and nucleoside analogues as antitumor, antiviral, antiparasitic, and antiarrhythmic agents has been well documented. Pharmacokinetic studies suggest that many of these compounds are actively transported in the

Many organic cations are transported across the apical membrane of the proximal tubule by specific saturable mechanisms. The goal of this study was to determine if the transporter for tetraethylammonium (TEA) in the brush border membrane of an establ

The renal proximal tubule is responsible for the active elimination of organic cations. Studies in brush-border membrane vesicles (BBMV) suggest that active organic cation transport is mediated by an organic cation-proton antiporter. The goals of thi

There is little primate risk factor data in the literature evaluating the relationship between proposed mechanisms of PPAR agonist-induced hepatocarcinogenesis at clinically relevant therapeutic exposures. These studies were conducted to characterize
