A pump dithering removal algorithm, based on pilot sequence-aided DSP, is proposed and experimentally validated in dual polarization 64 QAM optical phase conjugation system. A 4.2 dB SNR improvement was observed due to the SBS suppression.

We study the impact of laser phase noise on ranging precision in a frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) LiDAR system, demonstrating ranging of 384.72 m with ~ 15 cm precision at 7 × intrinsic laser coherence length.

Carrier phase estimation (CPE) is one of the key requirements to perform intradyne coherent detection in optical communication systems. Residual errors in the phase estimation at the receiver, also known as residual phase noise (RPN), follow the so-c

In this paper, we investigate two categories of linear frequency-modulated chirp signals suitable for single-photodiode based coherent light detection and ranging (LiDAR) systems, namely, the frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) single-sideband

Fiber nonlinearities, that lead to nonlinear signal distortion, are normally considered to be the result of an instantaneous material response with respect to the optical field. However, in addition to an instantaneous part, the nonlinear fiber respo

An advanced digital backward-propagation (DBP) method using a separate-channels approach (SCA) is investigated for the compensation of inter-channel nonlinearities in spatial- and wavelength-multiplexed systems. Compared to the conventional DBP, intr

The maximum data throughput in a single mode optical fibre is a function of both the signal bandwidth and the wavelength-dependent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). In this paper, we investigate the use of hybrid discrete Raman & rare-earth doped fibre am

This work presents an evaluation of the crosstalk impact on the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of long-distance C and L band wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) systems using homogeneous multicore fibers with weakly coupled cores. It is experimentall
