Atmospheric propagation experiments have been conducted over the 1km TISTEF laser range to examine the effects of turbulence, absorption and scattering on a supercontinuum laser beam. This supercontinuum laser beam has been band limited to transmit o

With appropriate processing techniques, sonic anemometry can provide useful insights into the strength and spectral shape of optical turbulence. Closed form propagation models and simulations require stationary optical turbulence statistics to make a

The Rytov approximation is used with different initial beam radius of curvature in orthogonal directions to approximate optical refractivity with an anisotropic nonKolmogorov spectrum in weak turbulence. Results are compared to experimental data.

A single pixel infrared camera is developed utilizing digital micromirror technology. The imager is applied to determination of atmospheric extinction and other meteorological parameters. Experimental evidence demonstrates agreement with forward-scat

Ground to air temperature gradients are the drivers of optical turbulence. Different systems can measure temperature fluctuations. C T 2 and C n 2 are derived from RTD probe systems and sonic anemometers mounted at several heights and compared.

Researchers from the University of Central Florida recently carried out a series of measurements over a concrete runway and a grass range using a 632.8 nm Gaussian beam propagated for 100 or 125 m at a height of 2 m. Mean intensity and scintillation

We present an experimental evaluation of a multi-aperture laser transmissometer system which profiles long-term laser beam statistics over long paths. While the system was originally designed to measure the aerosol extinction rate, the beam profiling
