We demonstrate continuum generation with pulses from the long femtosecond up to the picosecond regime. To understand the mechanism involved in this process we study the influence of the spectral width and the chirp of the pump pulses. We further inve

We present an efficient concept for generating carrier-envelope phase stable pulses tunable between 1.6 and 2.0 μm with durations down to 8.2 fs based on nonlinear frequency conversion. As a first application we measure the high nonlinearity of mult

An elementary chemical reaction proceeds through two distinct conical intersections. Benzhydryl radicals are formed with a delay of 80 fs, cations after 125 fs. The optical signal increases more slowly due to planarization and solvation.
