Chalcogenide superlattices (SL), formed by the alternate stacking of GeTe and Sb$_{2}$Te$_{3}$ layers, also referred to as interfacial phase change memory (iPCM), are a leading candidate for spin based memory device applications. Theoretically, the i

While time-resolved pump-probe differential reflectivity and transmitivity measurements are routinely used to monitor the population relaxation dynamics on the subpicosecond time scale, it is also known that the signal in the negative delay can yield

We explore the ultrafast reflectivity response from photo-generated coupled phonon-surface Dirac plasmons in Sb$_2$Te$_3$ topological insulators several quintuple layers thick. The transient coherent phonon spectra obtained at different time frames e

We have closely examined the emission spectrum at the heavy-hole exciton resonance in a high-quality GaAs multi-quantum well (MQW) sample using picosecond excitation-correlation photoluminescence (ECPL) spectroscopy. Dynamics of the ECPL signal at lo

We analyze the applicability of transient thermal lens (TL) z-scan technique as a sensitive tool to measure heat diffusivity of liquids. Suitable dyes at very low concentrations were added to the host liquid to enhance the TL effect through improved

We report upon observation of a transient Fano resonance, a quantum interference between coherent phonon and Dirac plasmons, that persisted for up to 1 picosecond in the topological insulator Sb2Te3 investigated using coherent phonon spectroscopy.

Topological insulators (TIs) are characterized by possessing metallic (gapless) surface states and a finite band-gap state in the bulk. As the thickness of a TI layer decreases down to a few nanometer, hybridization between the top and bottom surface

We study a specific type of lifetime broadening resulting in the well-known exponential "Urbach tail" density of states within the energy gap of an insulator. After establishing the frequency and temperature dependence of the Urbach edge in GaAs quan
