The physical properties of polycarbonate blends containing the nonlinear optical dye lead tetracumylphenoxy phthalocyanine were characterized. Blends with up to 20 wt% dye were prepared and characterized in terms of density, refractive index, glass t

The blends of a nonlinear optical dye with polycarbonate are described and comparisons are made with solutions of the dye in chloroform. Absorption spectra of blends with up to 1 wt % lead tetracumylphenoxy phtha- locyanine showed the dye to be prima

Polarization-resolved excitation-probe measurements are performed for a new series of polymethine dyes in several solvents and a polyurethane acrylate elastopolymer. We describe our experimental studies and give an analysis of the nature of the rotat

Time-resolved excitation-probe polarization measurements are performed for polymethine and squarylium dyes in ethanol and an elastopolymer of polyurethane acrylate (PUA). These molecules exhibit strong excited-state absorption in the visible, which r

The incorporation of a nonlinear dye into a nanolayered polymer structure has the ability to greatly enhance the nonlinear transmission of the dye. Several characteristics of the nanolayered structured were studied to optimize the effect.

Saturation limits excited-state absorption (ESA) in many organic molecules. We studied polymethines using continuum spectroscopy to determine ESA spectra, two-color pump-probe anisotropy for transition dipole moment orientations, picosecond and nanos
