Representation theory of Lie algebras is called upon to develop a procedure for normalizing a dynamical system with two degrees of freedom in the neighborhood of an equilibrium when the Hamiltonian H(x, y, X, Y) in the coordinates (x, y) and their co

We show that if G is a σ compact locally compact group with relatively compact conjugacy classes, then the enveloping C ∗ -algebra C ∗ (G) has a Hausdorff primitive ideal space. We also discuss some open problems and a partial converse result.

Both an original contribution and a lucid introduction to mathematical aspects of fluid mechanics, Navier-Stokes Equations provides a compact and self-contained course on these classical, nonlinear, partial differential equations, which are used to d

The ideas of probability are all around us. Lotteries, casino gambling, the al most non-stop polling which seems to mold public policy more and more these are a few of the areas where principles of probability impinge in a direct way on the lives
