Abstract Effusive eruptions at open-conduit volcanoes are interpreted as reactions to a disequilibrium induced by the increase in magma supply. By comparing four of the most recent effusive eruptions at Stromboli volcano (Italy), we show how the volu

After a month-long increase in activity at the summit craters, on 24 December 2018, the Etna volcano experienced a short-lived lateral effusive event followed by a rapid resumption of low-level explosive and degassing activity at the summit vents. By

The preservation of historical buildings mainly depends on our capacity to monitor their ageing and quickly detect potential damage. We show how the dynamic characteristics of a building (i.e., frequency, shapes mode and seismic wave velocity) can be

Measuring glacier calving magnitude, frequency and location in high temporal resolution is necessary to understand mass loss mechanisms of ocean-terminating glaciers. We utilized calving-generated tsunami signals recorded with a pressure sensor for e

On August 7, 2014, a new effusive vent opened on the northern flank of Stromboli. A characteristic pattern was observed in both seismic and infrasonic signal amplitudes prior to this effusive eruption. The pattern consisted of the repeating cycle: (1

In this study we analyse the main potential seismic sources in some axial and frontal sectors of the Northern Apennines, in Italy. This region was hit by a peculiar series of earthquakes that started in 1916 on the external thrust fronts near Rimini.

Glacier microseismicity is a promising tool to study glacier dynamics. However, physical processes connecting seismic signals and ice dynamics are not clearly understood at present. Particularly, the relationship between tide-modulated seismicity and
