Here, observing geosynchronous satellites has numerous applications. Lighting conditions near the equinoxes routinely cause problems for traditional observations of sensors near the equator – the solar exclusion. We investigate using sensors on sat

A typical introduction to electromagnetic waves in vacuum is illustrated by the following quote from an introductory physics text: “Maxwell's equations predict that an electromagnetic wave consists of oscillating electric and magnetic fields. The c

We report experimental response functions at 12 gamma-ray energies over the range of 123.6 keV to 11.67 MeV for a 2.54 cm diameter × 2.54 cm long and a 7.62 cm diameter × 7.62 cm long bismuth germanate scintillation detector. The measurements were

Pion inelastic scattering on 12 C and 28 Si at extreme forward angles has revealed a set of states not previously observed. Their characteristics suggest they may be the spin-flip E1 giant resonance.

Cross sections for ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\mathrm{\ensuremath{-}}}$ elastic and inelastic scattering to states in $^{15}\mathrm{N}$ have been measured at an incident pion energy of 164 MeV. Transitions to states at 10.7, 12

A range-nuclear-interaction absorber for rejecting muons in the focal plane of the EPICS spectrometer is described. This absorber rejects 95% of the muons in the focal plane, while rejecting fewer than 4% of the pions.

Previous measurements have shown that pion double-charge-exchange angular distributions between nonanalog J/sup ..pi../ = 0/sup +/ states at T/sub ..pi../ = 164 MeV are consistent with simple diffractive scattering, whereas angular distributions betw

The excitation function for ..pi../sup +/ inelastic scattering to the 0/sup +/, T = 1, 3.563-MeV level of /sup 6/Li has been measured at a constant momentum transfer qapprox. =109 MeV/c for incident pion energies from 100 to 260 MeV. Although the dif

New measurements of /sup 14/C,/sup 26/Mg(..pi../sup +/,..pi../sup -/) differential cross sections are reported and compared to previous differential cross sections for double charge exchange on T> or =1 nuclei.
