The structure consists of discrete C 5 H 8 N 3 O + (4-amino-1-methyl-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyrimidinium) and CuCl 4 2- ions. The coordination about the Cu atom is distorted tetrahedral with an average trans Cl-Cu-Cl angle of 127.7 (1)°.
