Since May 1986, the heavy ion transfer line (HITL) which joins the Tandem Van de Graaff facility and the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) has permitted the acceleration of heavy ions (up to sulfur) to 14.

A fixed-frequency, 930-MHz harmonic cavity has been installed in the alternating gradient synchrotron (AGS) ring. The primary purpose of this harmonic cavity is to increase (dilute) the longitudinal phase space area occupied by the beam by as much as

Techniques for precision control of the main magnet power supplies for the AGS and AGS booster synchrotron will be discussed. Both synchrotrons are designed to operate in a pulse-to-pulse modulation (PPM) environment with a Supercycle Generator defin

Beam performance results for the injection phase of proton beam commissioning of the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron (AGS) booster synchrotron are presented. The beam from the 200 MeV LINAC is transported through a new beam line into the booster. Th

The 1.5 GeV (proton) booster synchrotron nearing completion at the AGS (Alternating Gradient Synchrotron) will get its 200 MeV beam from the linac, via a 34.9 m-long linac-to-booster transport line (LTB). A schematic layout of the LTB is shown. The f

The strategies invoked to satisfy the injected beam specifications for the Brookhaven Relativistic Heavy ion Collider (RHIC) continue to evolve, in the context of the yearly AGS fixed target heavy ion physics runs. The primary challenge is simply pro
