An experimental and theoretical investigation on low-energy nucleon capture by 3 He is reported. The extremely small cross section of the 3 He(n, γ) reaction has been measured with thermal and with 24.5 keV neutrons, yielding gs n γ (th) = 55 ± 3

It is shown that addition of a two-body magnetic dipole operator arising from the exchange of the isovector pion and rho meson to the well-known one-body operator can give important corrections to the magnetic dipole moments of the A=4--16 nuclei. We

For many years the west of 49/14b, offshore U.K. was poorly imaged due to a complex en-echelon system of salt ridges. These issues prevented the development of Carrack West. In 2006 a seismic survey with a different azimuth, and longer offset was acq

To de-risk the development of the Barue PH01 extension, there was a need to further improve the quality of the existing (2000) Pre-SDM imaging. Especially the shallow strata, i.e. the Liassic and the Upper Triassic, demonstrate a strong deformation.

EAGE/SEG Summer Research Workshop - Processing and imaging of seismic data.
Over the years, travel-time inversion (TTI) has established itself within Shell as the preferred method to construct 3-D velocity models in depth for subsequent imaging purposes. Vast experience has been built up with layer based TTI and more recentl

Summary A pre-drill estimate of pore pressure is important for drilling in overpressured areas. In this presentation, seismic velocities obtained using reflection tomography are used to predict pore pressure over an area which contains several distin

Summary We propose a methodology to propagate uncertainties in seismic pore pressure prediction using a 3-D Probabilistic Mechanical Earth Model (P-MEM). An extended form of Bowers formula is used to link pore pressure to seismic velocity, overburden

Low‐energy radiative neutron capture by the target nuclei 1H, 2H, and 3He depends on exchange currents. For radiative capture of thermal neutrons in the hydrogen isotopes, contributions of meson‐exchange currents (MEC) range from 10–50%, but th
