We calculated the dependence of the transition frequencies on the fine-structure constant $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ ($q$ factors) for Ni ii. Nickel is one of the few elements with high sensitivity to $\ensuremath{\alpha}$ variation, whose lines are obser
