The tropospheric ozone lidar at the Fraunhofer-Institut fur Atmospharische Umweltforschung has been upgraded for measurements in an extended range with high accuracy (mostly 5%), high vertical resolution (50–500 m within the troposphere), and under

Continuous measurements of CO have been performed at the coastal site Cape Point (34°S, 18°E) and at the continental mountain site Zugspitze (47°N, 11°E) since 1978 and 1990, respectively. The CO concentrations observed at both stations in 1994 d

A statistical assessment of deep intrusions of stratospheric air based on records of two adjacent mountain stations of the northern Alps at different altitudes is presented. Ten years recordings of beryllium activity, ozone concentrations, and relati

This paper gives a synthesis of three algorithms to detect the presenceof tropopause folds from vertical ozone/radio-sounding profiles and frommeteorological analysis. Also an algorithm to identify injection ofstratospheric air into the lower troposp

In 1992 we reported an indication of global increase of atmospheric mercury concentrations obtained from the measurements of total gaseous mercury (TGM) over the Atlantic Ocean during five ship cruises between 1977 and 1990 (Slemr and Langer, 1992).

The orographic impact on cold fronts is investigated in the Loisach River Valley area by means of two events obtained during the German Front Experiment 1987. The discussion is focussed on the frontal passages in the Garmisch area traced from continu

With respect to the specific questions set out by the TOR project at its beginning, four Task Groups (TG) were established at the end of 1993. Task Group 1 should focus mainly on the following three questions.

Two distinct algorithms to detect the presence of tropopause folds from ozone and meteorological radio soundings have been developed within Task Group 3b (KMI/CNRS and University of Cologne) and have been applied to several sites of the TOR network.

From 1972 until today aerosol samples have been taken on special, chemically demineralized filters at a mountain observatory located at 1780 m a.s.l. on the almost isolated peak of the Wank near Garmisch-Partenkirchen (WMO-BAPMoN-Station). Filters ar
