For dynamical systems that can be modelled as asymptotically stable linear systems forced by Gaussian noise, this paper develops methods to infer (estimate) their dominant modes from observations in real time. The modes can be real or complex. For a

The trophic levels of nodes in directed networks can reveal their functional properties. Moreover, the trophic coherence of a network, defined in terms of trophic levels, is related to properties such as cycle structure, stability and percolation. Th

Frequently, a set of objects has to be evaluated by a panel of assessors, but not every object is assessed by every assessor. A problem facing such panels is how to take into account different standards among panel members and varying levels of confi

In this paper we apply Aubry–Mather theory for equilibria of 1D Hamiltonian lattice systems and the theory of invariant ordered circles to investigate the depinning transition of travelling waves for particle chains. Assume A B are two critical val

This corrigendum corrects a mistake in the paper (Baesens and MacKay 2018 Nonlinearity 31 2928–81) and the consequent conclusions. The corrected conclusions are confirmed by numerically computed bifurcation diagrams.

For Schrödinger operators with suitable 1D potentials, focussing particularly on those that go to infinity at infinity, a characteristic function is constructed, via shooting functions. It is proved to be entire and its zeroes to be the eigenvalues.

The semiconductor industry growth is driven to a large extent by steady advancements in microlithography. The SIA Lithography Roadmap forecasts the continuing advancements necessary to maintain this steady growth and “work-in-progress” predicts a

The photon‐driven (2.5 to 6.4 eV) desorption of SO2 (coverages up to 2.7 monolayers) on Ag(111) has been studied by time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry in combination with temperature programmed desorption and Auger electron spectroscopy. The phot
