Heterogeneities sensitize an explosive to shock initiation. This is due to hot-spot formation and the sensitivity of chemical reaction rates to temperature. Here, we describe a numerical experiment aimed at elucidating a mechanism for hot-spot format

We are developing a new high explosive pulsed power (HEPP) system based on the 1.4 m long Ranchero generator which was developed in 1999 for driving solid density z-pinch loads. The new application requires approximately 40 MA to implode similar line

We have started a project to verify and validate ASC codes used to simulate detonation waves in high explosives. Since there are no non‐trivial analytic solutions, we are going to compare simulated results with experimental data that cover a wide r

We identify a new global topological self-interaction of anyons represented by a self-induced Aharonov-Bohm phase measuring the oriented self-interaction number of a closed particle trajectory in the plane.

In this paper we give a derivation of the virial expansion and some of its generalizations. Our derivation is based on the generating functional which defines a representation of the density operator ρ (x) in a nonrelativistic local current algebra.

Analysis of the reactive Euler equations has shown that there is a correction to the CJ detonation velocity due to the curvature of a diverging detonation wave. We show that this determines the diameter effect and failure diameter of an explosive. Th

We study the Feynman path-integral formalism for the constrained problem of a free particle moving on the half-line. It is shown that the effect of the boundary condition at the origin can be incorporated into the path integral by a simple modificati

Unitary representations of the infinite parameter group Diff(R/sup 3/) are presented which describe particles with spin as well as tightly bound composite particles. These results support the idea that Diff(R/sup 3/) can serve as a ''universal group'
