We report a neutron-diffraction study of the antiferromagnetic phase transition in NdSn/sub 3/. The staggered magnetization is a continuous, S-shaped function of temperature with long-range order persisting well above an ''apparent'' transition tempe

The magnetic-field---temperature phase diagram and critical behavior of ${\mathrm{Fe}}_{2}$As are described. Spin-orientation changes with field are observed, in agreement with theoretical expectations, but tetracritical behavior is not found. A mode

Polarised neutrons have been used to solve the existing ambiguities in the chemical and magnetic structures of NiFe 2 O 4 . The results show conclusively that it has a completely inverted spinel structure with an oxygen parameter of 0.2573 ±0.0003.

A detailed neutron diffraction study of Pd 2 MnSn and Cu 2 MnIn shows that both have the fully ordered L2 1 type of Heusler alloy structure and are ferromagnetic with 190 and 575°K as their respective Curie temperatures. Pd 2 MnGe shows a preferenti

The chemical and magnetic structures of the ${\mathrm{Zn}}_{x}{\mathrm{Ni}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Fe}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$ system have been determined using neutron diffraction for $x=0, 0.25, 0.50, \mathrm{and} 0.75$. The data yield a cation d

Three phases in the iron-germanium system have been investigated by neutron diffraction for determining their atomic and magnetic structures. Of these, FeGe 2 is found to be antiferromagnetic with a Neel temperature of 315°K and Fe 1.67 Ge is ferrom

Inelastic neutron scattering has been used in an attempt to characterize the crystal field of isolated rare earth ions in an amorphous matrix. Amorphous yttrium copper alloys in which 5% of the yttrium was replaced by Ce, Pr, and Er were studied usin
