By the interaction of pyrroles with carbon disulfide and haloalkanes in a KOH/DMSO system, esters of 1- and 2-pyrrolyldithiocarboxylic acids have been synthesized. The influence of substituents on the direction of the reaction has been established.

The long-range spin-spin coupling of CH3-H3′ through space, observed in the PMR spectrum of 3-methyl-2-(2′-furyl)pyrrole, testifies to the planar (or nearly planar) conformation of this system with a syn arrangement of the heteroatoms.

1. In 2-aryl- and 2-hetaryl-5-trifluoroaeetylpyrroles, the interaction of substituants through the pyrrole ring causes a strong polarization of the molecule. 2. The dipole moments of 2-aryl-5-trifluoroaeetylpyrroles are very sensitive to the donor pr
