A methodology for calculating the basic parameters of a flywheel energy-storage unit based on an asynchronized compensator is reported. Basic properties and potential fields of application are considered.

Known methods for starting a flywheel energy storage unit based on an asynchronized compensator are analyzed, and a new method is proposed. Advantages and disadvantages of the considered methods are discussed.
