A chemically diverse library of about 400,000 small molecules was screened for antiviral activity against lentiviral pseudotypes with the Lassa virus envelope glycoprotein (LASV GP) gene incorporated. High-throughput screening resulted in discovery o

A series of potent arenavirus inhibitors sharing a benzimidazole core were previously reported by our group. SAR studies were expanded beyond the previous analysis, which involved the attached phenyl rings and methylamino linker portion, to include m

Plasma processes are a very popular method to produce high-grade quality thin films on many different substrates. There are a large variety of different coating systems. Such systems go from small-scale machines (i.e. Optical coating systems for opht

In quantum/wave systems with chaotic classical analogs, wavefunctions evolve in highly complex, yet deterministic ways. A slight perturbation of the system, though, will cause the evolution to diverge from its original behavior increasingly with time

Mechanical high vacuum pumping requirements at the JET facility, have historically been satisfied by modified commercially available 3500 l/s turbo-molecular pumps. These pumps have been used, over 17 years of experiments, but are now uneconomical to

The electrostatic energy of an additional electron on a conducting grain blocks the flow of current through the grain, an effect known as the Coulomb blockade. Current can flow only if two charge states of the grain have the same energy; in this case

The operating range of turbopumps is being extended to higher pressures as a consequence of many demanding applications. Varian VPT has specialized in the design of Gaede stages for extending the operating pressure of the pump. The present work is an

A simple model of compressible Couette–Poiseuille flow is developed to describe the pressure distribution in a single Gaede stage, in viscous flow. From this a scaling law to optimize the stage design has been derived. Both model and scaling law ar
