A procedure is presented for calculating 24-hour totals of evaporation from wet and drying soils. Its application requires a knowledge of the daily solar radiation, the maximum and minimum, air temperatures, moist surface albedo, and maximum and mini

For several days in March of 1975, reflected solar radiation measurements were obtained from smooth and rough surfaces of wet, drying, and continually dry Avondale loam at Phoenix, Arizona, with pyranometers located 50 cm above the ground surface and

Surveys were made of condensation nuclei, freezing nuclei, and water vapor concentrations in the exhaust wake of an F80 jet aircraft. Condensation nuclei concentrations were found to be maximum in a region of 50 to 75 ft aft of the tailpipe, with sec

An explosive configuration has been developed for going from a single initiation point to a cylindrically symmetric, converging detonation front. This technique utilizes the ``mousetrap'' concept but in a cylindrical geometry rather than the usual pl

THE longitudinal sound velocity in columns of granular ammonium perchlorate at an average loading density of 0.93 ± 0.07 g/c.c. was measured. The particle size distribution of the salt is shown in Fig. 1. The 50 per cent point (by weight) was 14µ.
