The effect of the addition of ethanol and 2-propanol to the dispersing phase of TiO2 and RuO2 sols mixture on the morphology and, consequently, on the electrochemical properties of the sol-gel obtained activated titanium anodes was investigated. The

The history of nonprecious metal catalysts (NPMCs) is less than five decades old and, until recently, was overwhelmingly dominated by academic research. Nonetheless, this article focuses on the accomplishments in the area with the best prospects for

The electrodissolution and corrosion of cobalt was studied in 0.1 N H2SO4 with a rotating disk electrode (RDE), microband electrodes (MBE), and the quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). The corrosion rates obtained by voltammetry were very close to thos

Electrolytic cells consisting of mercury electrodes immersed into pure aqueous sulphuric acid solution (ideally polarizable electrodes) and in the one containing Ti3+/Ti4+ redox couple (presence of a faradaic process) were shown to resonate with an i

Previous studies have shown that cobalt-molybdenum alloys may be deposited with high efficiencies from a pyrophosphate bath using a specially designed plating cell incorporating cathode rotation, stirring and wiping. This investigation shows that it

There is practical interest in the use of titanium as a cathode material in brine electrolysis processes. The overvoltage of hydrogen evolution on titanium is, however, very high and, at the same time, hydrogen penetrates the bulk of the metal. Here,

It is shown that good quality deposits of cobalt-molybdenum alloys may be produced using pulse plating and it is demonstrated that such coatings on titanium have a low overpotential for hydrogen evolution under typical brine electrolysis conditions.
