The "Cosmic Evolution Survey" (COSMOS) enables the study of the Spectral Energy Distributions (SEDs) of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) because of the deep coverage and rich sampling of frequencies from X-ray to radio. Here we present a SED catalog of 4

The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) is an airborne observatory consisting of a specially modified Boeing 747SP with a 2.7-m telescope, flying at altitudes as high as 13.7 km (45,000 ft). Designed to observe at wavelengths fro

We present the first high-redshift galaxy cluster candidate sample from the HIROCS survey found in the COSMOS field. It results from a combination of public COSMOS with proprietary H-band data on a 0.66 square degree part of the COSMOS field and comp

We present deep VLA and HST observations of the large-scale jet in 3C 273 matched to 0.3" resolution. The observed spectra show a significant flattening in the infrared-ultraviolet wavelength range. The jet's emission cannot therefore be assumed to a

As a step towards our understanding of galaxy evolution and for testing predictions of cosmological models we started a survey for galaxy clusters intending to identify candidates out to redshifts of ~1.5: HIROCS (= Heidelberg InfraRed/Optical Cluste

The emission line survey within the Calar Alto Deep Imaging Survey (CADIS) detects emission line galaxies by a scan with an imaging Fabry-Perot interferometer. It covers 5 fields of > 100 square arcmin each in three wavelengths windows centered on la

Galaxies at high redshift with a strong Ly-Alpha emission line trace massive star formation in the absence of dust, and can therefore be regarded as a prime signature of the first major starburst in galaxies. We report results of the Ly-Alpha search

Using new deep VLA and HST observations of the large-scale jet in 3C273 matched to 0.3" resolution, we have detected excess near-ultraviolet emission (300 nm) above a synchrotron cutoff spectrum accounting for the emission from radio through optical

We present HST images at 622 nm and 300 nm of the jet in 3C273 and determine the run of the optical spectral index at 0.2" along the jet. The smoothness of spectral index changes shows that the physical conditions are varying smoothly across the jet.

We present K-band number counts for the faint galaxies in the Calar Alto Deep Imaging Survey (CADIS). We covered 4 CADIS fields, a total area of 0.2deg^2, in the broad band filters B, R and K. We detect about 4000 galaxies in the K-band images, with
