The objectives of this study were to establish an in-depth understanding of the signals induced by mammalian cells in surface plasmon resonance (SPR) sensing. To this end, two plasmonic structures with different propagation and penetration distances

Hot carriers are energetic photoexcited carriers driving a large range of chemicophysical mechanisms. At the nanoscale, an efficient generation of these carriers is facilitated by illuminating plasmonic antennas. However, the ultrafast relaxation rat

Optical biosensors such as waveguides and surface-plasmon resonance (SPR) sensors have found numerous applications in biomolecular sciences. We provide an overview of these technologies in relation to the specific requirements of label-free and high-

We employ nonlinear autocorrelation measurements to investigate plasmon-assisted hot carrier dynamics generated in optical gold antennas. We demonstrate that surface plasmons enable a nonlinear formation of hot carriers, providing thus a unique lever

A multilayered biosensing architecture based on long range surface plasmons (LRSPs) is reported. LRSPs originate from the coupling of surface plasmons on the opposite sides of a thin metal film embedded in a symmetrical refractive index environment.
