The effect of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) infection on growth and P nutrition in Maize (Zea mays, cv.DDH hybrid) were assessed in Oxisol pot experiment. Maize was grown inoculated with spores of VAM fungi Glomus mosseae or non-inoculated.

Antioxidant properties of four common green algal genera viz. Cladophora glomerata, Chaetomorpha aerea, Rhizoclonium crassipellitum, and Pithophora cleveana collected from Sunderban areas of Eastern India were tested in controlled and nutrient stress

Ephemeral flowers, especially nocturnal ones, usually emit characteristic scent profiles within their post-anthesis lifespans of a few hours. Whether these flowers exhibit temporal variability in the composition and profile of volatile and non-volati

The editor has retracted this article [1] because a scientific error was made in the identification of the species referred to in the study. The plant studied is not Canscora decussata, as stated in the manuscript, but rather Canscora diffusa (Vahl)

Volatile compounds emitted by plants are important for understanding their ecological interactions. The volatile emission profile of a plant or plant part can be analysed by sampling the headspace air—an enclosed volume of air surrounding the plant

Cyanobacteria are capable of rapidly sequestering CO2 into lipid-enriched biomass while utilizing dissolved inorganic nutrients in wastewater. Semi-batch 30-d cultures of Anabaena sphaerica and A. variabilis were simultaneously monitored for biomass

Crop species differ in their phosphorus (P) efficiency i.e. their ability to grow well in low P supplying soils. To test this hypothesis, field experiments were carried out in a low P soil to study P efficiency of wheat (Triticum aestium L.), maize (

The review of patents reveals that investigation of plant volatiles and their biosynthetic pathways is a relatively new field in plant biochemistry. The diversity of structure and function of these volatiles is gradually being understood. However, th

Plant species differ in nutrient uptake efficiency. With a pot experiment, we evaluated potassium (K) uptake efficiency of maize (Zea mays L.), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L.) grown on a low-K soil. Sugar beet and whea

Phosphorus is often limiting crop growth in soils low in P supplying capacity. The objective of this study was to investigate whether there are differences in P efficiency between sugar beet and wheat and to search for the plant properties responsibl
