Aromatic units bring special features to supramolecular receptors when the challenge of binding and release of CO2 is being addressed. Recent examples arising from calixarenes, pillararenes and cyclophanes are discussed in this review. The abilities

While many processes in biological cells can be understood in terms of molecular logic gates that process information sequentially and combinationally, the design and construction of such devices in the laboratory are unknown. Here the authors achiev

The hybridization state of carbon atoms between phenylene units in p-cyclophanes is shown to control the guest binding properties of these hosts. Dimeric cyclophanes can be shape-switched by redox so that small aromatics can be captured or released.
