For the past 30+ years, the magnetic expansion factor ($f_s$) has been used in empirical relationships to predict solar wind speed ($v_{obs}$) at 1 AU, based on an inverse relationship between these two quantities. Coronal unipolar streamers (i.e. ps

We consider interesting results on the kinematics of the bulge, beginning with Mould's (1983) measurement of the velocity dispersion of the late M giants in the bulge, and carrying the discussion on to the present day, to discuss the largest survey e

We present the first detection of a 6.7 GHz Class II methanol (CH3OH) maser in the Andromeda galaxy (M31). The CH3OH maser was found in a Very Large Array (VLA) survey during the fall of 2009. We have confirmed the methanol maser with the new Expande

We report on the interferometric detection of 36.2 GHz Class I methanol emission with the new 27-40 GHz Ka band receivers available on the Expanded Very Large Array (EVLA). The brightness temperatures of the interferometric 36 GHz detections unambigu

One of the next decade's most exciting prospects is to explore the cosmic "dark ages," during which the first stars in the Universe formed, with the 21 cm line of neutral hydrogen. At z>6, this light redshifts into the low-frequency radio regime and

The cosmic dark ages and the epoch of reionization, during which the first generations of stars and galaxies formed, are among the most compelling frontiers of extragalactic astrophysics and cosmology. Here we describe an exciting new probe of these

We present a detailed comparison of the CO(3-2) emitting molecular gas between a local sample of luminous infrared galaxies (U/LIRGs) and a high redshift sample that comprises submm selected galaxies (SMGs), quasars, and Lyman Break Galaxies (LBGs).

We present new data obtained with the Submillimeter Array for a sample of fourteen nearby luminous and ultraluminous infrared galaxies. The galaxies were selected to have luminosity distances D < 200 Mpc and far-infrared luminosities log(L_FIR) > 11.
