A theoretical modeling of dual wavelength operation of erbium-doped fibre lasers is presented. The model is a generalization of the one used in the single mode theory, based on the existence of isolated ions and ion pairs coupled via the laser field.

We present experimental evidence of quasiperiodic route to chaos in erbium-doped fiber laser operating simultaneously at 1.550 /spl mu/m and 1.536 /spl mu/m. Starting from a CW state for high pumping rates the system becomes T-periodic, 2T-periodic,

Experiments with erbium-doped fiber lasers demonstrate cw, sinusoidal, and self-pulsing operation. The obtained regimes depend on three control parameters: ion-pair concentration, photon lifetime, and pumping rate. We present a theoretical model whic

We demonstrate experimentally the influence of ion-pair concentration on the dynamical behaviour of erbium-doped fibre lasers. At low pair densities, the laser has a CW output, while at higher densities it exhibits a self-pulsing behaviour. For inter

The output intensity of an erbium-doped fibre laser was studied. Experiments were performed with three pumping wavelengths: 514.5 nm, 810 nm and 980 nm. The laser output intensity exhibits three different dynamical behaviours: steady-state, sinusoida

A simple theoretical modeling of the static properties of a fiber laser that includes distributed losses and inhomogeneous pumping is presented. Closed-form expressions for both the output and the backward (at the input mirror) intensities are obtain

We study, both experimentally and theoretically, the threshold properties of the polarized modes in Nd(3+)-doped fiber lasers. We demonstrate the influence of the gain anisotropy induced by the pump polarization and of the loss anisotropy induced by

The use of coherent optical sources as pumps in solidstate lasers has led to the experimental feasibility of long-fiber lasers, permitting the study of coherent effects on increased time scales. Rare-earth-doped silica-fiber lasers reveal complex sta

Rare-earth doped fibre lasers had demonstrated a large variety of dynamical behaviors including static and dynamic polarization effects,1 antiphase and chaotic dynamics in autonomous2 or modulated systems.3 In this context, erbium-doped fibre laser (

La dynamique du laser a fibre dopee a I’erbium est analysee experimentalement et theoriquement. Une caracteristique surprenante de ce laser est qu’il est susceptible d’osciller spontanement en impulsions, en sinusoidal ou bien en continu. L’e
