We describe a few-mode erbium-doped fiber amplifier with ring-doped erbium doping profile fiber and optimized optical setup amplifying LP01, LP11, and LP21 modes, simultaneously. Spectral and modal gain distribution is characterized as well as modal

We present a transmission experiment employing three spatial modes through a few-mode fiber coupled to the surrounding single mode equipment by a packaged mode multiplexer and demultiplexer. We evaluate and compare the impact of the residual crosstal

We demonstrate error free real time transmission over 20km of Few Mode Fiber of two spatial modes carrying 2×200 Gb/s PDM-16QAM using highly selective mode multiplexer, step-index Few Mode Fiber and standard real-time coherent transponder.

We review recent results on optical amplifiers for space division multiplexing transmission. We emphasize on the importance of crosstalk characterization for few mode EDFA and present an amplified five mode transmission over 80km.

We build a 5-mode amplifier with low modal crosstalk. With this amplifier we demonstrate, for the first time, an amplified transmission of 100Gbits/s signals over 80km of few mode fiber with low signal processing complexity.

We report a six mode spatial multiplexer with high efficiency and high mode selectivity, based on the technique of Multi-Plane Light Conversion (MPLC). Using this mode selective multiplexer, we demonstrate a total insertion loss in a six-mode fiber b

We built an optical Few Mode Amplifier supporting 5 modes. Moderate crosstalk between modes has been measured thanks to careful design and alignment optimization. Simultaneous amplification of 100Gbits/ PDM-QPSK signal over 5 modes is demonstrated. O

We present a spatial 6-mode multiplexer with low loss and high mode selectivity. We demonstrate 100Gbit/s error-free transmission over 20km for 6 modes and over 40km bi-directional transmission with 3 modes in each direction.

International audience; In mode-division multiplexed (MDM) transmission systems, mode coupling is responsible for inter-modal crosstalk. We consider the transmission of modulated signals over a few-mode fiber (FMF) having low mode coupling and large
