Lithium Niobate (LN) is an important nonlinear optical material. Here we demonstrate LN microdisk resonators that feature optical quality factor ~ 100,000, realized using robust and scalable fabrication techniques, that operate over a wide wavelength

The present study introduces the concept of a new scanning dual-capillary-tube viscometer (SDCV) for viscosity measurements of both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids, including whole blood, over a wide range of shear rates. The flow rate and pressur

Contemporary commercial building types continue to incorporate predominantly glazed envelope systems, despite the associated challenges with thermal regulation, visual comfort, and increased energy consumption. The advantage of window systems that co
The optical diffraction limit has been the dominant barrier to achieving higher optical resolution in the fields of microscopy, photolithography, and optical data storage. We present here an approach toward imaging below the diffraction barrier. Thro

The availability of extensive genomic information and content has spawned an era of high-throughput screening that is generating large sets of functional genomic data. In particular, the need to understand the biochemical wiring within a cell has int

A small array of subwavelength apertures patterned in a gold film on glass was characterized for use as a biosensor. It is widely believed that such arrays allow the resonance of photons with surface plasmons in the metallic film. Surface plasmon met

The size of the smallest detail visible in conventional microscopy is determined by the wavelength of the light used to image a specimen. For state-of-the-art optical imaging, this diffraction limit is 200-300 nm, leaving a considerable ‘blind spot
