We characterize the effects of neighboring channels on the accuracy of OSNR monitoring with a fractional-bit-delay Michelson interferometer. We find errors ≫ 10 dB when the center channel is flanked by higher-power constant-wave neighbors.

We report a photosensitization process in standard hydrogen loaded optical fiber. A persistent photosensitivity is produced by exposure to UV light that can be uniform or spatially tailored along the fiber length.
