Turkesterone is a phytoecdysteroid possessing an 11alpha-hydroxyl group. It is an analogue of the insect steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone. Previous ecdysteroid QSAR and molecular modelling studies predicted that the cavity of the ligand-binding dom

Three ecdysteroid 7,9(11)-dien-7-ones (dacryhainansterone, 25-hydroxydacryhainansterone and kaladasterone) were prepared by dehydration of the corresponding 11alpha-hydroxy ecdysteroids (ajugasterone C, turkesterone and muristerone A, respectively).

The EC50 values for a training set of 66 ecdysteroids and 97 diacylhydrazines were measured in the ecdysteroid-responsive Drosophila melanogaster BII cell line, a prototypical homologous inducible gene expression system. Each of eight superimposition

Concern over endocrine disrupters in coastal ecosystems has stimulated global efforts to understand their potential impacts on fish and invertebrate communities. Given that marine crustaceans are sensitive to the effects of alkylphenols and other xen

A strategy for screening plants for ecdysteroid content based on the ‘positive tribe’ principle is developed and applied, for the first time, to screen the flora of European North-East Russia to identify species which accumulate ecdysteroids; 700

We present here a survey of ca. 100 species within 16 genera of the family Ranunculaceae for the presence of ecdysteroid agonist and antagonist activities in methanolic seed extracts. The levels of phytoecdysteroids (agonists) have been quantified by

Seeds of a number of species in the Liliaceae (sensu Brummitt, 1992) were examined for the presence of ecdysteroid agonist and antagonist activities. No species were antagonistic to 20-hydroxyecdysone action on the ecdysteroid-responsive Drosophila m

The BII bioassay was developed as a rapid and reliable tool for detecting potential insect growth regulators acting as ecdysteroid receptor (ant)agonists. Based on an ecdysteroid-responsive cell line from Drosophila melanogaster, this microplate assa
