Here, de Vries et al. perform a pre-clinical characterization of the antimalarial compound MMV693183: the compound targets acetyl-CoA synthetase, has efficacy in humanized mice against Plasmodium falciparum infection, blocks transmission to mosquito

Drug resistance and a dire lack of transmission-blocking antimalarials hamper malaria elimination. Here, we present the pantothenamide MMV693183 as a first-in-class acetyl-CoA synthetase (ACS) inhibitor to enter preclinical development. Our studies d

The synthesis and the affinities for serotonin and tryptamine receptors of a series of N-oxy derivatives of tryptamine (6–8, 13–14) are reported. It was found that N-hydroxytryptamine (6) is a relatively selective ligand for the 5-HT1C receptor.
